چکیده

The scaling properties of one-dimensional deconstructed surfaces are studied by numerical simulations of a disaggregation model. The model presented here for the disaggregation process takes into account the possibility of having quenched disorder in the bulk under deconstruction. The disorder can be considered to model several types of irregularities appearing in real materials (dislocations, impurities). The presence of irregularities makes the intensity of the attack to be not uniform. In order to include this effect, the computational bulk is considered to be composed by two types of particles. Those particles which can be easily detached and other particles that are not sensible to the etching attack. As the detachment of particles proceeds in time, the dynamical properties of the rough interface are studied. The resulting one-dimensional surface show self-affine properties and the values of the scaling exponents are reported when the interface is still moving near the depinning transition. According to the scaling exponents presented here, the model must be considered to belong to a new universality class. Email: [email protected]

Surface Properties of a Selective Dissagregation Model

The scaling properties of one-dimensional surfaces generated by selective disaggregation processes are studied through Monte Carlo simulations. The model presented here for the deconstruction process takes into account the nearest neighbors interaction energies. This interactions are considered to be the energy barrier the detaching particle has to overcome in order to desorb from the surface. ...

Scaling law governing the roughness of the swash edge line

The paper is devoted to the analysis of the shape of the swash edge line. Formation of the swash boundary is treated as an interfacial phenomenon. The simplest quantitative characteristic of the roughness of interface is its width w, defined as the root-mean-square fluctuation around the average position. For rough interfaces, the scaling with size of the system L is observed in the form w(L)∝ ...

Multiscaling analysis of ferroelectric domain wall roughness.

Using multiscaling analysis, we compare the characteristic roughening of ferroelectric domain walls in Pb(Zr0.2Ti0.8)O3 thin films with numerical simulations of weakly pinned one-dimensional interfaces. Although at length scales up to L(MA)≥5  μm the ferroelectric domain walls behave similarly to the numerical interfaces, showing a simple monoaffine scaling (with a well-defined roughness expone...

Nonspecular x-ray reflectivity study of roughness scaling in SiÕMo multilayers

The interfacial roughness and lateral correlation length of a series of Si/Mo multilayers with bilayer period 69 Å and number of bilayers ranging from 5 to 40 have been characterized by diffuse x-ray scattering. Superlattice peaks are preserved in offset radial scans indicating a high degree of conformality in the roughness. The lateral correlation length j increases with total film thickness h...

Scaling of the interface roughness in Fe-Cr superlattices: self-affine versus non-self-affine.

We have analyzed kinetic roughening in Fe-Cr superlattices by energy-filtered transmission electron microscopy. The direct access to individual interfaces provides both static and dynamic roughness exponents. We find an anomalous non-self-affine scaling of the interface roughness with a time dependent local roughness at short length scales. While the deposition conditions affect strongly the lo...
